In this paper, a viscosity-projection method is proposed by a Meir-Keeler contraction for approximating a common element of the set of solutions of a gen-
eralized equilibrium problem and the set of fixed points of a asymptotically strict pseudo-contractive mapping. Strong convergence theorems of the iterative sequences are obtained in a real Hilbert space, which remove some iterative controlling conditions and the uniformly asymptotically regular property of the primary mapping in convergence analysis.
