With the continuous development of system science and information technology, we have lived in a world of network environment and computing devices. The traditional distributed system is facing the challenge for new features of autonomy, coordination and openness. Professors Xuyan Tu and Guangping Zeng provided the novel concept and aspect of study of SoftMan, who come from University of Science and Technology Beijing. SoftMan, a virtual robot running under computer network environment, is presented to meet these application requirements; anthropomorphism is also a research hotspot of current distributed artificial intelligent field. This paper introduces the research status of current distributed SoftMan theory and its application technology, describes some key construction principle and technology such as knowledge communication, rule inference, task cooperation, migration mechanism and SoftMan service organization and so on, and explores the future research direction of distributed system oriented to mobile application.
