Optimal Leasing and Selling Strategies of Durable Goods Manufacturer Considering Consumers' Capital Constraint

基于消费者效用理论,在考虑消费者预算约束和耐用品生命周期的条件下,通过建立无限周期的数学模型,分析了制造商在租赁和销售渠道中的最优决策,并进行了比较分析.文章研究了当部分消费者存在预算约束时,消费者比例和耐用品质量对耐用品制造商租赁和销售渠道选择决策的影响.研究表明:预算约束型消费者比例的增加,会降低制造商租赁渠道的利润,也会降低销售渠道的利润,但具体影响方式有所不同,而且预算约束型消费者群体整体越富有,两种策略的利润差越大;维护成本是影响租赁公司运营的重要因素,维护成本越高,采取租赁策略的公司越少;对于租赁公司,设备使用时间越长,利润越高,而对于销售公司,其设备存在确定的最佳使用年限.
Based on the consumer utility theory, the paper builds an infinite cycle decision model to analyze the optimal leasing or selling strategy when considering the consumers' capital constraint and discusses the impact of market structure and life span of durable goods. The result shows that:The increase of the proportion of capital-constrained consumers reduces the profits of manufacturers under the two strategies, but the specific impacts vary; the richer capital-constrained consumers are, the greater the profit gap between the two strategies is; moreover, the maintenance cost plays a significant role in the profit of leasing strategy, and high cost will hinder the development of these leasing companies; finally, for leasing companies, longer life span leads to more profit, while for selling companies, they'd better find out the best life span.
